Who Are We?
We are a part of the Reformed Church in America (RCA), one of the oldest denominations in North America. The RCA has approximately 940 congregations in the United States and Canada and over 250 missionaries and mission-partners throughout the world.
In Iowa, we are over 75 churches strong. Our three colleges - Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, Central College in Pella, Iowa and Hope College in Holland, Michigan - are all recognized as high-quality Christian liberal arts institutions. To belong to a Reformed Church, thus, is to be part of a warm, historic North American family of Christians.

What We Believe
New Life is a Confessional Church:
We hold to some of the most ancient descriptions of our Christian faith, including the Aposles' Creed (see below), the Nicene Creed and the Anthanasian Creed. We also have been shaped by the confessions of the Reformation period in 16th century Europe, including the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dort.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Sprit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic (universal) church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
- The Apostles Creed, c. 325 AD
In addition, we agree to the following set of more contemporary statements:
- That the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is inspired by the Holy Spirit, perfect in its teachings and complete for our life and salvation.
- That God exists eternally as one God yet in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- That Jesus Christ is one essence with the Father and co-eternal, born miraculously in the flesh - true God and true Man.
- That man and woman were created in the image of God; that they both sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death, the latter being separation from God; and that we all share in Adam's disobedience.
- That Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice to remove our sins and to fully appease the wrath of God.
- That salvation is applied to us by grace through faith, and not on our own merits.
- That all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Spirit, and have become his children and are sealed eternally in relationship with God.
- That He was resurrected bodily and ascended into heaven, and that all believers will experience the same.
- That the Lord Jesus will return to this world again (our "Blessed Hope").
- That God is the ultimate Judge and will determine the destiny of those who live in him as well as those who do not.
